Day #28 When Will I Learn?

Okay, so I just realized that it has been damn near two weeks since my last workout post! 12 days, to be precise… It has nothing to do with laziness, as I have stated in the past. Rather, it has to do with time allotment. I am very busy with work so, sometimes I do not have the time I would like to write in length about the workouts I have been doing. Suffice it to say, I am killin’ it!

However, I am shifting gears quite dramatically! I found a workout on Bodybuilding.com that struck a chord. I checked it out and examined what it had to offer. The workout is called: Jim Stoppani’s 6-Week Shortcut to Shred. And let me tell you… it is no joke!

House Not Funny

After having spent the past four weeks doing Stronglift, and seeing great results, I concluded that I do not need strength. I have that in spades. I am bench pressing 275lbs for 5 sets of 5 reps. Squats are 345lbs, 5×5. Bent Over Row, 205lbs, 5×5… You get the idea. My numbers are sufficient, and I am no longer punching anybody in the face, since I gave up cage fighting, so I do not need a ton of power behind my strikes.

The Dude Opinion

Instead, I know what I need is the discipline to make these numbers work FOR me. So, the past two workouts have been to establish numbers for the next 6-Weeks. I have completed two of the routines, so far, and I expect to spend the rest of this upcoming week completing the other workouts – I must figure out what weight will be sufficient.

To give you an idea of the intensity level of this program, I must say it is perfectly on par with what I would have done back in my days of fighting. It is brutal, intense, and shocking to the system! I haven’t sweated like this in years. Every part of me is soaked and I push my body to the point where sweating becomes difficult because I have exhausted all of my resources. In theory, shifting to burning fat!

I will provide a link to take you directly to the routine on the Bodybuilding.com website, that way you can get an accurate depiction of this program. But, to share a bit of my misery with you… I have managed to do, as an example, Flat Bench Press 225lbs, 4 sets – 11, 10, 9, 9. The kicker is, in between each set I am in constant motion, jogging in place for 60 seconds! This is far more difficult than it sounds!

Jim Stoppani

By the time the alarm goes off, I am saying, “Sheesh… Already???” But, I do not slow down. I keep going, keep pushing, keep hitting the steel! Today, my legs were annihilated by doing Squats, Deadlifts, Walking Lunges, Standing and Seated Calf Raises. All of these performed with 60 seconds of hell in between.

Granny Hell No

I do take breaks, though, between exercises. But, if I do 4 sets, I do 4 minutes of cardio in between. The workouts take about 1.5 hours, but the sets move quickly! Right now, I am exhausted beyond belief, but I haven’t slept this well in quite some time. I think I have finally found what I have been needing.

Please, leave a comment, especially if you made it to the end of the post! I had a lot to say, since I haven’t been posting regularly. Sorry about that!
