Day #8 Slide

Those of you who have seen the movie Fight Club may very well remember the most important line in the film. I am not guessing many would agree with me, but I argue that this word was the epitome of what Tyler (Edward Norton, The Narrator) needed to come to terms with.

For me, it has been something I have struggled with for a long time. When I was in Jr. High School and High School, I had very little control over my temper and would let anyone get the best of me. Setting me off on the drop of a “Your Momma” joke. I had to learn to let things [Slide]. It was through many years of martial arts and listening to my mentors that helped me see this through.

Even recently, when I was in Japan, I needed to receive an in-depth lesson on this ability; this skill. Things in Japan are not always easy and you may be beaten down by those who are your superiors. However, it is the person who can let it slide that will see the lesson to be learned each time it happens. To this day, I am reminded at how effective this tool can be, and as needed, I go through the motions and just… Let things [Slide].

Calm Workplace

Today’s workout was just that, letting things [Slide] through the use of T25 Cardio. I needed it, and it felt fantastic! During the workout, my anger was still present, but as I moved along, I focused on the task at hand, and now… It has washed away. I can think clearly and deal with my issues with a sound mind ^,^ Mind you, most of the day, I was upset… but that is also a part of letting it slide. I waited until I was in a position to deal with the problem, by subsiding my frustration. I do this with humor ^,^
